What we get up to....
Your child is our priority. At St James' Sunbeams we have a varied approach to ensuring your child's sessions are filled with fun, exploration and guided learning.
Being set in such a wonderful rural location, we encourage the children to get plenty of fresh air and exercise with free flow to the outside play areas at all times. Various activities such as ride-ons, play equipment, garden area, messy play area and mud kitchen can all be found outside and our very own Forest School trained staff ensure the children are making the most of the field and woodland area on the St James' First School site for sport and forest school activities.
We follow 'In the Moment Planning' (Anna Ephgrave) a philosophy by which children lead the learning and adults scaffold through their play. We create a nursery where children are purposeful, calm, confident and independent with adults moving to where the children are engaged and interacting with them as they play. Our environment is designed and equipped to meet the needs, interests and stages of development of each child.
We have weekly cooking activities which encourage healthy eating and fine motor skills.
There are also plenty of opportunities for parents to get involved with half termly events for families to enjoy such as Harvest celebrations, stay and play sessions and forest school activities.
Tapestry is our online Early Years Learning Journal for each child. With a secure password you are able access the lovely photos and written observations that staff take. You will also be able to add your own observations from home and comment on the observations taken by Sunbeams staff. We also use Tapestry as a way of setting some home learning tasks for you to enjoy with you child.
Most important is the fact that we are delivering excellent early years practice which is best for your child and going forward, we will continue to strive for ensuring the absolute best for your child's early development.
