Friends of St James' (FSJ)

We are fortunate at St James' CE First School & Nursery to have a Friends Association which has been an integral part of the school community for many years. In its time, we have raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children's education experience and the

school's facilities.

Friends of St James' (FSJ) is about much more than simply fundraising, it exists to provide closer links between home and school and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.

All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if you only have a small amount of time available. All families are automatically members once your child joins our school.

We meet on a regular basis usually once or twice per term to plan and discuss fundraising ideas and events.

If you are interested in getting involved, please do not hesitate to talk to a member of the committee or just come along to the next planned meeting.

We have a growing list of volunteers who commit some of their time to helping the committee. Every little helps, so just one hour assisting at an event would be invaluable. Our funds are raised through events that we run, some of our most popular events include: Christmas and Summer fairs, school discos,  sponsored events, Bag2school recycling collections, raffles. We also have second hand uniform sales through our Friends of St James' facebook page so you can stock up on some nearly new spares.

Funds raised are spent on the 'extras' that are not provided by the school's budget, thus making our children's learning experiences so much more fulfilling and exciting. Recent funds raised are contributing to: subsidising trips and developing the school playground and early years area.
