Here at St James’ we offer Forest School Nursery provision that provides an encouraging, inspiring environment where children can play and learn using all their senses to explore and investigate the world around them.  

Our Forest School follows the ethos of developing children's personal, social, academic and emotional development through daily outdoor time in our mature woodland grounds. 

Here, the children are given time and space to explore and play, develop skills, interests and understanding through a range of exciting and self-directed experiences. 

Introducing a range of stimulus, children use tools, learn boundaries of behaviour and learn to assess risk. Children are given encouragement to direct their own learning helping them grow in confidence and self-esteem and become self-motivated. Our experienced staff are always on hand to observe the children’s learning which is then developed further and scaffolded to incorporate new concepts and ideas.
