Moving on from St. James'

It is always our aim that pupils from St James' are well-prepared for the next stage of their education, drawing on the breadth and depth of the diverse curriculum they have experienced so far. They have been enabled to make thoughtful, responsible choices, showing respect for themselves and others, and strive to be their best in all areas of school life. This strong foundation of knowledge, skills, and values enables them to approach new challenges with confidence, curiosity, and resilience.

To celebrate our children's time at St. James', we have an action-packed leaver's schedule. To name just a few, the children attend their 2-night residential visit to Springhead, as well as enjoying a leaver's breakfast, ice-cream van visits, hoodies, reflection opportunities with the Reverend Simon and culminating with a celebration leaver's worship.

Reflections from year 4 – Looking back and stepping forward

Following a reflective morning with Reverend Simon, our children spent time thinking about how the school story of "The Wise and Foolish Builders", as well as our vision and values, have impacted their learning journey through St. James'.

Here are some of our 2026 Leaver's reflections:

"To be my best in my next school. I will always try new things so that I am prepared for the future."

"I can be my best by being resilient in my learning."

"I am prepared for the future because I can respect other people's thoughts and values."

"To be my best in my next school. I will listen and be kind to the teachers."

"I am prepared as I have learnt to make lots of friends from the value of friendship."

"I can show respect for other people no matter where they are from."

"To be my best in my next school. I will help other people so they will help me."

"I can trust in others and hope that people can trust in me."

The majority of our children choose our feeder school – Cranborne Middle School, where the Headteacher would be happy to show you round – Cranborne Middle School.
