  • Christian Ethos Committee

All LSC members who are part of a church school body are responsible for the following:

    • Uphold their spiritual duty to bring personal wisdom, experiences, expertise and ideas into the role.
    • Understand the unique character of the school and community and develop the historic foundation and ethos of the school.

Those who undertake the more specific Christian guardianship of our school have both a practical and spiritual duty in bringing Christian wisdom, perspective and knowledge to the role. They have the following responsibilities in line with the distinctly Christian mandate that they hold:

    • Relate their governance directly to their faith in God and the teachings of the Bible
    • Ensure governance reflects biblical values, such as advocacy for others, respect for everyone, leading with insight and wisdom and serving others
    • Use the unique Christian ethos, vision and values of our school to guide all decision-making and discussion
    • Be a member of the Christian Ethos Committee who act as a steering group for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the Christian Foundation of the school. This is monitored under three broad areas; vision and values, Christian culture and collective worship and RE

SIAMS inspection focusses on the impact of the Church school's Christian vision on pupils and adults. This involves looking at the school’s Christian vision, the provision the school makes because of this vision and how effective this provision is in enabling all pupils to flourish.

As part of our school's monitoring and evaluation, we will employ a variety of strategies to undertake strategic governance and ensure that our school is distinctively and effectively Christian in our character and ethos.

CEC members collect evidence as part of a triangulation monitoring approach – observations/ learning walks; book looks and planning; pupil and staff conferencing. It follows a 'seen, discussed, did and reviewed' cycle to ensure that evaluation is impactful in supporting our school to continually review and improve.
