At the heart of our village community, our school vision—Make great choices, be our best—is the guiding force behind everything we do. We believe that true excellence is only possible when the physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of our entire school family is nurtured. This statement outlines our commitment to creating an inclusive and compassionate environment where every individual has the foundation they need to flourish.
Rooted in our Christian foundation, we are committed to cultivating an environment where every pupil and adult is deeply valued. Our vision drives a culture of dignity, respect, and inclusion.
Wellbeing is not an add-on; it is the cornerstone of our pupils' wider personal development. We have designed our pastoral care and broader curriculum to ensure our children develop the character, confidence, and resilience they need to navigate the modern world.
To help our pupils make great choices, we commit to:
Building Character and Resilience: Providing safe opportunities for children to face challenges, make mistakes, and learn to bounce back.
Teaching Health and Happiness: Equipping pupils with age-appropriate knowledge of how to keep themselves physically and mentally healthy, including understanding healthy relationships and safe online behaviours.
Fostering Active Citizens: Encouraging pupils to understand their role within our village and the wider world, developing a strong moral compass and a sense of justice.
Preparing for the Future: Ensuring our children transition to their next steps in education as emotionally intelligent, self-aware individuals who know how to seek help when they need it.
To bring our vision to life, wellbeing at our school prioritises Proactive Pastoral Care: Early identification and tailored support for children or staff facing emotional challenges, utilising a trained Pastoral lead, a mental health lead and community resources.
Our Hamish and Milo Emotional Literacy Programme offers emotional themes that include creative enrichment activities designed to enable discussion about children’s life experiences and emotions. Each activity includes elements that help children understand what is happening in their bodies and minds so that they can begin to regulate and reflect with a co-regulating and empathetic adult in a way that supports their emotional wellbeing.

We foster an Empowering Curriculum: Dedicated PSHE (Personal, Social, Health, and Economic) education and collective worship that give children the vocabulary to articulate their feelings and grow their understanding of themselves, others, the world and beyond.
A Restorative Environment: A behaviour policy based on forgiveness, reflection, and restorative justice—teaching children that making a great choice includes taking responsibility and making amends when things go wrong.
A Connected Village Community: Working hand-in-hand with staff, parents, carers, and local village partners to create a strong safety net of support around every child.
We recognise that for our children to be their best, the adults who guide them must also be supported. We actively prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of our staff and parents/ carers, ensuring our school is a place where adults are treated well, workloads are managed thoughtfully, and pastoral support is extended to the whole community. By modelling healthy, supportive relationships, our staff empower our pupils to make great choices in how they treat themselves and others.
By wrapping our children and staff in a culture of care, we ensure that every member of our school family has the strength, support, and spirit to make great choices and, ultimately, be their very best.
